Part of my origami series "Transformation". The origami bird on the windowsill looks out at real birds flying free in the distance. Longing to be a real bird, unbeknownst to it, as it looks with great longing, it's extremities are licked with a glow, changing it "from glory to glory".
I spent an inordinate amount of time working out the composition. I finally used an unfolded crane as an underlying grid to place all the birds. I liked how it looked and added meaning of underlaying design to our deep desires.
