Portrait and Figure Class

Each month the portrait class examines in depth, a different aspect of the figure i.e. mouth, eyes, hair etc.
The 1st hour of each class period is used for class exercises exploring the featured theme. The rest of the class time is used for painting an ongoing portrait of your choosing from a photograph. In months that meet 5 times instead of 4, the 5th class is devoted entirely to working on your individual portrait project, (tuition is prorated to $125 for months with 5 weeks). Exercises include line drawings to understand the anatomy and form, Chiaroscuro studies, Sculpting with clay, Painted studies of master works, photographs and from life. I give step by step demonstrations and instruction for each exercise. This well rounded approach to understanding what you are painting will make your practice as an artist easier and more accurate.
